sparse adpresse pilosis. FoKa crassfuscula. Flores pallide rubicundi, -^-1-uuciales,
terminalis nudiw, laterales involncello diphyllo muniti. Sepafa 5, ovalia, obtusa
vel acutiuscula, adpresse pilosnla, parallele iicrvosa, subpersistentin • Achenia stylo
scquilongo marcescente apiculata.
The terminal flower often falls away before the lateral ones are developed, so tiwt
there are often apparently only two flowers in the involucre, each of which is invo-
lucellate. The remains of the peduncle of the first-developed flower may, however,
always be discovered.

Molliter albo-pilosa, rarius swbglabrescens. Hhizoma sscpe elongatum, vaginis
foliorum delapsonim tectum. Involucri folia ad medium triloba, lobis trilobis vel
incisis. .Scapus ^-1-pedaJis. Folia 1-2-uncialia. Jlos terminalis exiuvolucellatus,
lateralis involucello diphyllo mumtns. Sepala 5, late obovata vel elliptica, obtnsa
vel retusa, extus molliter pubescentia 1-1-^-uncialia. Achenia ovalia, stylo brevi
sdbulato nudo apiculata.
This species approaches J. sylvestm> I., but that is always one-flowered, aad has
the involucral leaves pedicellate.
